whats your guys patterns look like, i’m looking for sizes 16-20 I fish a tail water and the trout have never really liked mine.
color matters- which tailwater?
The clinch in east tennesee, I tie mainly grey ones and some olive ones, weight and getting it down there is the key I think.
try some “ray charles”
What Normand said - 'Ray Charles’. Key is to use orange thread and no ribbing. Also, size #16 is max. I would also try sizes 18 and 20.
Kelly.
Thanks. I’m gonna give that a try it’s simple enough lol.

do you tie all three ostrich hearls in together and then wrap forward or wrap one and then add another as it runs out?
Yes, tie all three or four together.
Another useful sowbug pattern:

Is the “trout crack” a sowbug? Or what?
that is a good question- as small as they are tied I would think it is a stage of a midge. Can someone who fishes with trout
crack answer this?
just did a quick web search and it is a “small, delicate sowbug”
