Some tailwater stuff

Having a little fun on a rainy day between while waiting for the paint to dry in the spare bedroom; mostly zebras and scuds. Although that trip won’t happen until April (hopefully), I figure if I tie enough of them, my wife will have to let me go.

these were most excellent in red, too

didn’t get to try this one out last spring, but it worked real well in the fall, so I’ll bring a bunch j-i-c

Those look great.

I’m headed up to fish the Missouri tomorrow. This is the latest Blue Winged Olive hatch I can remember.
Our Indian summer lasted almost the whole month of October. And the warm temperatures have kept the hatch from happening.
But I’ve heard it’s on now. We’ll see. If it doesn’t blow too hard it might be good.

What you showed above should be good there right now–scuds and midges. Add a few small BWO soft hackle wet flies and that’s what I’ll be fishing tomorrow.

Softhackles saved me up there 2 weeks ago; didn’t see much in the way of hatches, nymphs worked okay but I got tired of pulling weeds off all the time (and my shoulder was wearing out pitching that rig into the wind hour after hour). Hope the fish are looking up for you, catch a bunch.

Scott

Yeah the weeds are always a problem this time of year. I did hear it’s getting better…most have let go and drifted on downstream already.
But not all. Hey thanks. I like flies. I always check out your byline.
