I don’t recall the name of this one…it was recommended in a recent fly-fishing magazine for catching big bluegills:

No name on this one that I am aware of, but it is simple. Its what the trout wanted at a nearby lake last week!

This is similar to a Cyperts Minnow, I believe (I apologize…I’m not good at remembering names of many fly patterns, and most times I just sit down and tie, without looking at patterns/recipes):

Soft-hackle with chartreuse yarn body:

Sparrow variant…marabou body and chenille head:

Curled-body San Juan Worms:

These started out as marabou leeches, and I added pheasant tail or turkey slips with wire ribbing for a “shell back” or carapace. Its a quick & easy damselfly or hex nymph. I’m sure its been done before?:

March Brown soft-hackle wet fly:

Below is a pattern that resembles a crayfish with no claws. Claws could be added, of course :wink:

I saw that bluegill fly in flyfisherman magazine, dont remember the name either. i am going to tie some up when i get some free time

Nice ties, Dave! I saw that gill fly in FF mag too, but I didn’t care for the author’s approach to bluegill fishing. He is fishing 6-wts and heavy flies… That takes all the fun out of it in my opinion! I think I’m gonna try an unweighted or lightly weighted version of that fly, myself.

I agree, although I put a tail on it (which the author did to denote how much weight was used), I didn’t actually weight that fly.
