slotted bead size for Hanak H400BL

Any recommended bead size for Hanak H400BL size #14 competition hook or similar 60 deg shank bend? Typical bead charts only for straight shanks. Is slotted bead the way to go? Hate to mail order blindly. Thanks

A slotted bead is the way to go using 60 degree hooks. I use a similar style Allen hook and usually use slotted beads sized from 2.8mm to 3.3mm on a size #14.

Slotted is better but I’ve seen people use regular beads too on a 60 degree hook. Have not used the H400BL but looks comparable to the Daiichi jig hooks, and I typically use the exact same size as I would for a non-jig hook. Unlike Badbug for me that would be either 2.4mm or 2.8mm – and 2.8mm would be the most likely selection.
