Change color/size to suit your needs; on anything smaller, I’d switch to 1mm foam.
hook - Dai Riki 280 #8
thread - UTC 140 woodduck
body - Ice Dub pheasant tail
shellback/underwing - 2mm foam gold
legs - medium rubber cornsnake
head/wing - elk hair
indicator - 1mm foam orange
Part 1
mash barb, cover front 1/4 of shank with thread

clean, stack, measure (hook length) a clump of elk

trim butts, tie in with 2 soft loops, pull tight and let it spin


tie in foam strip (gap width), wrap to bend

dub thread/dub 1st segment


pull foam forward; tie down

tie in rear legs

fold foam back, tie down

push hair back (try to keep it evenly distributed around hook)

gather and pull back; spin the thread tight and tie down

add front legs

add indicator, whip finish, SHHAN

trim out hair on underside


trim wing to length (hook bend), taper; trim legs
