Hey Folks,
Rich Pomponio joined FAOL on 8 February
of this year. He went by his real name on the boards. He had a passion for bamboo and many of his postings were on restoration. He was a resident of PA and was retired. My thoughts and prayers are
with his family and friends. Warm regards,
Jim
NSSCORBA, Rich may have past away and that is very sad, but rest assure he will be by your side and in your heart every day you are on the stream or working on a rod.
My heart is heavy for you and all mentors we have lost of the years.
Philip
Rich,
My heart is with you during your time of grief. Several years ago my “mentor” passed and it still grieves me to this day. I say “mentor” because like you, the man was my FRIEND. He not only was a friend but became a part of my family, and I a part of his. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your mentor’s family.
It sounds like you were very close with the man. The family will need you for several years to come because you now share a connection. You are now a living testament to the man through what you learned from him. Keep your memories close and never let them fade. Never forget the good times, memories and knowledge that you experienced through being blessed with such a guide.
While it is very sad that he has passed, you are now the bearer of his torch and it is up to your to keep his legacy alive and pass what you learned on to future generations. Never forget that through you, a part of your friend will last the ages by becoming part of the practices, ethics and/or legends that you pass on to others. Such things are not only his lasting gift to you, but the sharing of such is also your greatest proof of your love and respect for the man.
I’m sure that there is something that he taught you or something that he said that will be passed on by you to others. Every time such things are passed on, I am sure he is sitting upstream on a better river while going through a fly box with a big grin on his face because he knows that he left his mark on you.
Again, my sincerest condolences.

Our prayers are with you and Rich’s family
He will fish with you every time you go…
Hang in there.

I am so sorry to hear of Rich’s passing. He was a very good person and often contributed many great thoughts and comments on this wonderful forum.
God Grant that I may live to fish until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast I most humbly pray,
When in the Lord’s safe landing net I’m peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I may be judged, As big enough to keep.

Very sad to hear of Rich’s passing. Thank you for your notice to the board. He will be missed by many with his contributions especially to the rod building group here on FAOL. I hope that all of us will be blessed with a fine mentor such as you have been with Rich.
My sympathy and prayer goes to you and his family.
God Blesses!

Sorry to hear the news. It’s never easy to loose someone we know and particularly a friend in a day when real friends are few and far between. You and his family will be in my prayers.
Happy Trails!
Ronn
Met Rich thru West PA Rod Builders, sure will be missed.
Prayers are with the family
