rough water...

as you can see the water was extremely rough right after Christmas…it was all we could do to keep afloat…ok, maybe not so bad…it sure dont look that way now though…this unexpected day was a nice surprise…temp was pushing 80 as well…tonight, not so warm…expecting low 40’s for 3 days

…made my morning bfw…thank you ! Wanting to be in a picture like that one day.

Cheers,

MontanaMoose

seems like forever ago…into the 40’s here now as expected and will be cold all week…doubtful to reach 70 until maybe next week…it stayed glassy all day that day so I thought I would try out my new camera…I will be really ready for the warm weather when it gets here again…after every cold snap there is a warm spell

I’m looking forward to that warm spell here, too!
On the way to work this morning, my car thermometer read -20F. My co-workers car read -14. The “official” temperature was -9F. The high temp forecast for this week is 14F on Wednesday… BRRRR!
This is probably about what you were used to in Alaska, Cordell?

I am now a wuss!!! in Alaska I was good to go to about -45 without gloves and about 10 with a sweatshirt only…I am freezing right now at 63 degrees…when I was a kid up there swimming lessons was always the 1st week of June…water temp was about 45 at best and ice off had been only 3 weeks prior but we loved it…the bay temp was 68 the other day and I didnt want to get my feet wet…BTW Dave, I see you won something on a kayak forum? I seen your picture in a kayak magazine along with several others for winning something…is this true?

I won something? I wasn’t aware of that, but it certainly IS possible. I suppose I should check around a bit…our e-mail server tosses stuff it thinks is junk mail.

I will look for it…Kayak Fishing Magazine #26

oh yeah! Cool!
I didn’t hear I actually won anything, so maybe I won “recognition”?

Anyway…sorry to hijack this thread.

How’s the freshwater fishing for exotics down there when the weather turns cold like this?

(FYI, turns out I won a gift certificate to Yak-Gear…which is really cool, because I was just recently thinking how horrible it would be to lose a rod into the water while fishing from my kayak…and now I can get some rod leashes! Thanks for the heads-up, Cordell!)

Soooooooo…we’re supposed to feel sorry for you how???

Lol…I just hope I can make it down there this spring to share in the rough water!

TT.

well Dave, at least it worked…I recognized you:lol: actually it gets read by a lot of people I am told…thread not hijacked…into the 30’s tonight

My boss just told us yesterday it was colder here in central Iowa, than it was in Barrow(?) Alaska…which he says is 900 miles NORTH of the Artic Circle!!! Our cars sure don’t want to start…

I have worked in Barrow…are you sure it is colder where you are? maybe just today…when I was there it was -70 without the wind chill and totally dark22.5hrs a day and mainly dark for the other 1.5hrs…if it is that cold where you are then good luck tonight!!! I am freezing right now in the house…houses here just arent set up with good heating…the weatherman says coldest spell in 25yrs…that aint good because last yr I seen lots of dead peacocks after it hit 35 degrees for 2 days…citrus crop in jeopardy as well…at least I know it will be warm by next week

Nice article on Kayaks in the current issue of American Angler.
