Ross Arius 2 on a 4 wt?

I picked up a Ross Arius 2 for a deal. I think the Ross 1.5 reels are generally 4 wt reels??

I know it’s a 4-6 wt reel. I am in need of a new 4wt rod as my wife is going to steal my current 4 wt if I find one I like. Do you think this reel would be too heavy/large for a 10ft 4 wt rod?

Wayne

The Arius 2 is only 1/2 ounce heavier then the Arius 1 and only .4 ounces heavier than the 1.5
It’s only 1/4 inch bigger diameter than the 1 and only 1/8 inch bigger than the 1.5

I don’t think that it would be too large or too heavy for a 10 foot, 4 weight rod.

I used a similar size and weight reel on a loaner Sage One 4100-4 rod it was balanced just fine.

That is actually the rod I am thinking of . . . .

That is a sweet rod! I usually find 10ft rods tiring during long sessions but I have put up to 8 almost continuous hours of fishing with that rod and not tire our my arm. A lot of backbone for a long 4wt (I pulled on several 20-24 inch rainbows) and a soft enough tip to protect tippets. I spent one day fishing with 15-20 mph winds gusting to 35 and had no trouble casting a brace of flies, shot, and an indicator and mostly getting them where I wanted. If I thought I would get to use it more than two or three days a year I would have bought one.
