Rod swap signup

Rod has cured, flannel sack sewn, ship tube sized and fitted with caps. Ready to load, lock, and ship.

Approximately 2 weeks before the rods are due to be shipped. Hope everyone is coming along at this point. It looks like most are in good shape so far.

When you complete your rod, please do 2 things. Post on this thread that you are ready, and send me a PM with your shipping address.

I will do like the last swap did, and PM each person the name and address of the person they are to ship their rod to. You’ll have to wait for the mail to see who is sending you theirs. Since Monday is shipping day, I’ll wait to PM the info until this weekend.

just have to cut the tube and pack it up.

I’m ready!!

Will be sewing the sock this weekend and I will be ready to ship. PM on the way.

Brad

I’ve obviously come across this thread (and whole BB) too late, but it sounded like a cool project, so I’m building one for myself.

Since I’m not swapping, I figured I didn’t have to play entirely by the rules, so I changed out a few parts to my liking. I went with a yFly window seat for an extra $6.14, a metal trim ring for an extra $1.60, a folding hook keeper for an extra $0.40, cork rings rather than the preformed handle for a savings of $0.71, and the largest departure is the removable fighting butt and end keep for when it’s not being used for $7.75 and $1.44 respectively. So that’s an extra $16.62. Big spender, I know.

Anyway, thanks for the idea. It will be a fun bass rod.

All done, In a sock & a tube…Ready to ship out…ModocDan

Cold Pass,
We SHALL pass this way again!! You need to be in the next swap!!

Welcome aboard!!!

Yep, keep an eye out. We’ll do another someday. We seem to try something like this once a year or so. Perhaps next fall we can set up another one.
I bought an extra to finish out, and did a few add ons, but it is still a cheap rod to build. I was going to give it to my youngest as a first fly rod, but found a lighter, shorter 4 weight batson blem that I think he will be able to cast easier. So I guess I’ll be able to keep the extra for myself.

I have completed our shipping assignments. I have one more builder left to confirm, and then I can give out the assignments this weekend.
If everyone has the ability, it would be nice if you post a picture of your rod and/or the rod you get from the swap. I think it would be neat to see everyone’s work in its final state. If you’ve already packed yours up, that’s ok. Hopefully the recipient can do it when it arrives. I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with on their builds.

I have a question for everyone. John R is a first time builder and doesn’t think he will be done by this weekend, and that it will take another week. We can go ahead with our rod swap as scheduled, or delay a week to allow him to complete the rod.
I will say that I’m personally inclined to wait for him, because John is building his first rod, and is taking his time and trying to do a good job. But since this a group activity, I think the group should weigh in. Post your preference, and I will let the majority rule on this one.

I have no problem waiting. I remember waiting on the blanks for the last swap…what is a week?

Brad

Hey! I’m all for waiting! Gotta have John R included!!!

As stated above, this is his first build. I vote to let him have the time he has requested to complete the job to his satisfaction. I think it is neat a new builder is participating. Show and tell is a great way to learn.

That is a majority. We’ll ship on the 8th instead.

Decision’s already made, but I’m for waiting too…Dan

I am not good with a camera and not set up with software that manipulates picture format very well. With that disclaimer, I think I have attached pics of my entry to the swap.

OK…somebodys rod is in the hands of the Pony Express! Since I will be out of town for work next week, the Swapmeister gave me permission to ship Saturday. I hope it meets the standards of the recipient.

Brad

I will send out addresses as soon as I get the last one. In any case, everyone will be getting theirs later tonight or tomorrow.

In the meantime, here are some pics of mine. The worst thing is about it is my cruddy handwriting. I normally prefer using decals.
