After much consultation from this board, i decided that a 10 footer was in order. I called Global Dorber to set the plan in motion, super great people and i will buy more rods from them as i can in the future. First i must thank Gemrod for the inside scoop on this blank as he has one. One phone call to spec out the rod, superfine grip. single foot guides (and there are lots of them), no hook keeper, over size tip for knot trouble on the business end.
Delivery was relativly quick at 3 weeks, wraps were perfect ,as good or better than a high end stick. The rod was to be used for nymphing, swing wets and the ocasional dry fly. the blank i would call a medium slow action.
this thing will when needed, throw a Very tight loop with complete accuracy.scary with a rod that long and this light. one improvement i made was to use a mid arbor reel, that was 2 oz heavier to achieve a great balance of rod and reel.
Although i get a deep discount on flyline thru a major manufacturer, i stuck with my favorite line, Rio gold, it roll casts just fine for my setup and how i fish. my furled leaders come from board member PSZY22 , his leaders are better than the ones i bulit and turn over awesome. my leader length with this rod is 12-13 feet. I needed a little adustment with fishing technique on this blank and action but since .then i have been cleaning house, well sort of,
with all this said i will definately buy another and am recommending them to others. It just an awesome rod, especially for the cost, that was set up for me, built my way. Please support them ,they are one of our sponsers.

hard to believe with all the expertise on this board, no one mentioned that this was too light or too long to catch a decent fish
Probably because there are so many light line fisherman about. Your absolutley right about these rods. I recently took delivery of the 10 foot 4 wgt. It is just a lovely thing to look at. The blank is a dark grey matte finish with, as you mentioned, perfect wraps. The fit and finish of this rod is beautiful. I love the medium slow action for fishing the wee wet flies. There is plenty of give in the top section to protect light tippets, but plenty of back bone to land a large fish quickly.
The rod will lay out a respectable amount of line, and if you add in a double haul it is better than respectable. Like you, I’m very pleased with my purchase and plan to pick up a couple more rods from Global Dorber.
The only drawback I can see to these 10 footers from Global Dorber is that they are two piece rods. If you have a small vehicle the five foot+ rod tube might be a problem for some. At the price they are selling for though, this is a very minor inconvenience.

I’ve been thinking about building one of those in a 1, 2 or 3 weight. I haven’t been able to make it happen yet, but you guys are making it tough!
I think the global dorber rods are a really great value. Based on my 5’ rod, your 10’ must have about 200 guides on it. I do like the oversize guides they use (I have two footed snakes on my rods), even my 5’ two weight shoots line like a cannon when the timing is just right and it’s in the mood. (it is a bit temperamental).
Plus they are great folks to deal with, and extremely knowledgeable.
What kind of action do these 10’ Global Dorber rods have? If they had a 3-piece 10’ 5 wt. I would like to build one. I like a little stiffer rod for fishing nymphs like a moderate fast blank, but not one that feels as stiff as a pipe.
