Rod refinishing

A little dog chewed my St. Croix. (May he rest in peace.)(Not really.)
(May he rest in peace, not really, or not really, did I kill him?)(He’s not sure yet.)
The handle smoothed out okay, but the rod finish is chipped quite a bit.
I have no experience finishing rods, so I would greatly appreciate advice.
Should I smooth the surface with steel wool and use urethane to finish it?
Thank you to all!

Urathane is pretty thin, your most likely going to be better off with using a normal two part rod finish because it will fill any holes (teeth marks :frowning: ) best. And yes scuffing up the old finish first will help it to hold better. If you can snap a pic that would help us to be able to tell you more.

Thank you. Hope the pictures are good enough. Is a two part finish like an two part epoxy?

chusha I sent ya a PM.

A thin coat of U40 would hide that pretty easy… seeing as it’s pretty far down the rod i myself would’nt be to worried about it fishing wise…

hope ya gave the little feller a proper burral… j/k… maybe…
