Two of my favorite.

You ought to be ashamed using you Grand Kids jammies in that fashion!
Was at the fabric store the other day and found skull and crossbones flannel…I know what my next several rod bags will look like!
Brad
Very cute!
Personally, I don’t believe I want to be pulling those out of the tube on the Blackfoot or Rock Creek this August.
I can just hear it now!!
I like Betty’s rod socks. 'Specially the one with bears on it and the plaid ones.
How about rod socks made out of… Socks?
bobbyg … if you were to pull it out of the tube, and lay it on the ground, you wouldn’t forget it! Hopefully, (good Lord willin’ and the creek don’t rise) mine will be taken out of tubes in the Snowy Range and the Bighorns!
Kevin … novel idea! Haven’t tried socks yet!!
You will always know a rod I’ve built by the rod sock!
That and the downlocking reel seats.
who said they should be cute?
Me. They’re sort of my signature, like the down locking reel seat. Fly fishing is supposed to be fun, and that starts at the rod building (for me). I want to enjoy the entire process.
Guarantee you won’t get your rods mixed up with someone else’s … unless I built their rod, too!!
Betty,
I would never lay a rod in its bag on the ground. I don’t believe you would either?
Good luck to you, if the creek don’t rise, up on the Snowy Range and the Bighorns!!
bobbyg
Nope! I sure wouldn’t! But I’ve seen guys do it … or leave them on the back of pick up trucks … or any number of things, because they blend with the background. This way, you’re bound to see them!
Thank you! I hope it works out that we can go!!
Big Horns? Betty - When?

Hi Betty,
I have never built a rod, but hope to start this winter. (I am looking for a 7’6" pink 4 piece blank for the granddaughter we are expecting in a couple of months.) At any rate, I showed my wife your rod socks, especially the one that has the bears on it.
When it comes to taking our first grand daughter fishing there is no point in letting any grass grow under the feet of this grandpa. (I know…bobber fishing for bluegills at first for a while, but at some point fly rod!)
My wife has bear decorations all over the house and kitchen so I thought she could make a “bear” rod sock. A pink fly rod, tube, and a bear rod sock would be a wonderful thing to give a granddaughter when she learns to fly fish.
At any rate, my wife liked your “bear” rod sock.
Thanks and regards,
Gandolf
I collect bears, too. I have been through the Wood Badge training with Scouts and am a proud member of the Bear Patrol in perpetuity. I have all kinds of bears. Figurines, stuffed, plaques, clocks, can cozies, hats, name tags, and even hand carved bears in Scout uniforms. But I do not have a bear rod sock.
Now I need to build a bear salmon rod.
Maybe see you on the Big Horn Betty. Blackfoot out, Big Horn in…I’m hyped!!
