Where can I find information on Rocky Ford? I want to know what the flow is like in CFS and also want to know how many trout per mile there are and any other data on them. Also, is it a stocked place, or are trout naturally reproducing?
Rocky Ford is a spring creek…think Armstrong and you’ll be close. The spring itself is on private land, which is a private trout hatchery. The water flows out into a series of small ponds with creeks connecting them with riffles and an occasional overflow dam. There is a nice disabled access there. The creek bottom is very soft, wading is not allowed, no float tubes either. I understand it is stocked from time to time, but the size of the resident trout is very large. All catch and release. Click on the CWFI Fish-Ins for photos of the creek and the fish.
BTW this is public water, not pay for play, under the control of the State of Washington Fisheries.

Might also want to be a bit careful while wading…muskrat holes can be entertaining and comical at the least (if it’s not your leg) and quite hazardous at most, if anybody’s leg gets wretched too bad.
LF, are there trees between the highway (17?) and Moses Lake? The Moses Lake club planted some when we were up there. That would be several seasons ago!
…lee s.
Now I’m confused. LF says wading is not allowed and lee s says be careful wading???
(My BIL lives around there and am planning a trip later this year or next.)
hurly
No wading allowed in Rocky Ford Creek, it’s printed in the State Regs.
There are numerous holes bank side though. Vickie had a muskrat chase a fly last year. Hmmm, muskrat on a 6 wgt, 6X tippet.
It’s a good idea to watch where you step and sit at the Ford. Had a close encounter with a three foot rattler there last year. Also a good idea to do a tick check every evening.
