Fifteen years ago I purchased a one-piece-5ft-all cork seat fly rod from Fisher rod company. It is graphite and I believe it only weighs 2-3 ounces,my question to the counsel is for recommendations on what reel to match with this rod. Its recommended that a 2wt line be used. The rod works well with an ancient Pfluger reel that I have but old parts where out and can’t be repaired so its time to replace.Suggestions?
i doubt you will ever wear out the old Pflueger, I have um from the 50’s that are still going strong. Just string the outfit up and fish it.
That Pfleuger must relly be ancient!
Phil,
With such a small, light rod, you will need a very small light reel to balance it. I own two of the J.Austin Forbes Magnesium reels and they are really sweet. They weigh only 2.2oz but will hold quite a bit of backing and a 2 or 3 wt line. They are on sale at overstock.com for $75 marked down from the normal retail of $150. Excellent reels and super light that would be a perfect match for your rod.
