To help me wrap my brain around the fishing options in Montana/Idaho, I need a good fishing map/atlas. I’d love to find a big, detailed river atlas covering the western states. Does anything like that exist? Forgive my ignorance and thanks for your input!
Ah, yes. Thank you. Right under my nose.

Order the free planning guides. Gets you (among other things) maps!
Hey Kymom:
Another possibility is the DeLorme State Atlas and Gazetteer series. These are topographical maps of individual states. Available for all states. They’re about $20.00 each/state. [url=http://www.delorme.com.:be59e]www.delorme.com.[/url:be59e]
VERY detailed, perhaps even more than you need.

I’d rather be in Wyoming!
The delorne maps look great. I’ll order those. Thanks to all!
I didn’t realize that Delorme made the “blue book” for states other than Maine. I’ll have to pick up a few before I leave!
Hmm, nevermind, it looks like all the other states have a different style cover that is mostly red.
Hey there Kymom ( again)
It just occured to me that while the DeLorme maps may tell you how to get to every turn in the dirt road, they will NOT tell you where the fish are. At the risk of admitting that JC has a better idea, his posted link tells you specific info about some of the great fisheries. Give that a try before you shell out the $20.00 for the topo maps.

Happy Mothers Day? (ky"mom")
I’d rather be in Wyoming!
Delorne maps are also available on CD’s, and are 3D. You can oriatate the map, and actual view the river or stream, as if you were floating down it in a drift boat.
The 3D feature really helps you to understand contour intervals on regular maps better.

Yes, the maps on flyanglersonline do look helpful. I still like the detail of the delorme maps as well. We’ll study both carefully. Thanks for all your help. Oh, and those 3D maps sound very cool (pricey, I’m sure).
Yep…mom to two gorgeous, spunky little boys. Thanks!
