Quigley's Half Dun SBS

Another iteration of the Hacklestacker; cool fly, pretty simple to tie. Used flat-wax nylon for the post this time; as long as it’s under sufficient tension it works very well (also less buildup on smaller flies). Shown here as a PMD; change colors/size to suit your needs.

hook - Dai Riki 125 #16
thread - Danville 6/0 pale yellow
shuck - Congo Hair brown
flash - Midge Krystal Flash rootbeer
post - Danville Flat-wax white
hackle - light ginger
wing - Congo Hair cream
thorax - dubbing pale yellow

Part 1

mash barb, start thread, tie in CH, fold back; tie in KF

wrap everything back to point above point; trim

tie in flat-wax

tie in hackle

tie in wing

twist butt ends on wing together and stroke it down to get it out of the way while hackling; hook up the post to the gallows

Part 2

wrap the hackle; tie off/trim

dub thorax on either side of wing

stroke hackle fibers back; pull forward through the wing, tie off/trim, half hitch x 2, SHHAN

trim wing
