Going to an auction on Sat 21st and one of the things shown is a book titled
The Complete Book of
FLY TYING by
Eric Leiser
Is it just another book on tying? Is it worth bidding on? Anyone know anything about it? Anyone want me to bid on it for them? If so, what is the limit? Just thought I would ask. Will be there anyway. Let me know by Friday evening.
Bunches of fishing equipment going up at this auction. Pictures show a couple of bamboo rods. A lot of rods with fly reels attatched. Dont know what I will get into until I get there. Looks like it will be a good auction. And then it could also be a bunch of junk. Never know by looking at the pictures.
Not much to report. We came, we saw, we left. LOL Nothing but a bunch of junk. Broken rods, reels, etc, etc, etc. Hour and a quarter drive to get there. 30 minutes of looking and an hour and a quarter drive back home. We left a half hour before the auction actually started. Win some, lose some. And we lost on this one. There will be others though.
Personally, I think this is a great book for someone first learning how to tie flies and the one I always recommend. When I first started, over 30 years ago, this is the book that finally made it happen for me after a couple of false starts with other books. One of its strong points is that it uses illustrations rather than photographs to demonstrate tying techniques. This may not be obvious to some, but illustrations do a far better job at demonstrating the tying process that photos do. Trust me.
