I made an old find, long story short of it is I now have several boo rods made I am guessing round 1930 ish…the question being
should I fish them the make on the 7 1/2 3 oz is a “granger special” made bu the "Goodwin Granger company out of Denver co. with 3 diff tips, original sock and tube it is a greenish tube
the other queston is what would this set up be valued at with the original reel…both are in exc. condition…
Frog -
Grangers are fine rods, some of the best of the so-called “Golden Age” of bamboo rodmaking (1930’s - 1960’s) The 3 different tips has me wondering, though. Do you mean they are different lengths? Different actions? Different color/finish? Your rod should have come with two identical tips. If they’re short by an inch, no big deal from a fishing standpoint (collectors would downgrade it, but it should still cast OK) If they’re short by more than four inches or so, not so good. The action would almost certainly be seriously compromised. I’m guessing the third tip is a replacement, and a lot depends on who made it and when.
Sorry I can’t be much help on giving you a ballpark value on this rod. If it were mine, you can bet I’d fish with it.
Dear frogpoop,
If the rod is in original condition with no refinishing and all sections are straight you have a pretty valuable rod on your hands.
I’d guess it’s value to be in the $ 750.00 to $ 850.00 range. Shorter older bamboo rods are getting hard to come by and always bring a premium.

Poop,
(Title appropriate based on your location), I think you should ship all those rods to ohiotuber for inspection & testing. I certainly would give a Michigan inhabitant an honest opinion of value, and would certainly NOT ship a substandard rod back “north” to be broken in a “Carr” door! I also promise that I will attempt to obtain the learned opinion of another totally unbiased, kind, & softspoken former Buckeye in the evaluation of these Michigan owned rods. Between the 2 of us, Bobby (“Gimme back my damn chair”) & I will inform you of our decision.
With all due respect(?) & sympathy,
Mike
