Quality Fishing Time

Just one question: from the number of recurring reader responses to the Bulletin Board – when do you guys have time to fish?
Ha!Ha!

It’s nice to be retired! When? ANY TIME WE WANT! Ha, ha to you, too!! And, I might add, as I’m incredibly ornery today, nani-nani-nani!

Trouts don’t live in ugly places

Hmmm, Betty, are we getting closer to the year of your birth?

Respect Your Elders!

I can’t fish, therefore I post.

Oopps!!!

Trouts don’t live in ugly places

I post on my lunch hour and fish on my own time. No time conflict here! 8T

You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it’s a real short camping season.

I often fish before work or on weekends in the early AM. It is not an issue for me to get up before 5 and be fishing by 6~ 6:15 and then fish until 8:00 when I drive to work.

Then add some evenings or weekend afternoons, vacations and holidays.

Actually,… with the forest fires this year, … we aren’t fishing as much as we’d like to, … but the best part of the season is still to come.

I’m with Betty!!! My retirement party T-shirt from my friends says,
" I’M RETIRED AND YOU’RE NOT
NAH - NAH - NAH - NAH - NAH"

Fish whenever the spirit strikes and that’s often nowadays.

i bet if you check the time of these posts you’d find that we write while we are “working”.

DM,

Actually I’m on summer vaction right now

Chris, then why the hell ain’t you fishin’???

I conveniently schedule meetings that are at times which preclude a return to the office b/c of the traffic coming back into the city.

It is amazing how many meetings one can schedule near the Swift River at 10:00 on a weekday.

DM,

Not fishin’ 'cause it was so darn hot (well, … hot for up here ).

Spent lots of time with the family and getting gear ready for friends and clients who’re arriving tomorrow night from TX and TN.

Lots of preparation involved as they need lodging, food, gear, … and of course FISH. Mostly exploring the river.

Low water levels have made for some weird holding patterns. Salmon and trout fresh from the salt have been bee lining it for the upper reaches with out laying over in the “traditional” pools.

I guess we’ll just have to “break” free from some traditions .

Epon, … And just guess who some of these “clients” are ?? … We’ll do a bit of shop talk and lot of fishin’.

My T shirt says " I’ll do it tomorrow I’m going Fishing today."

Must admit being put out to pasture had a dramatic effect on the time I spend fishing. But it does have it’s drawbacks. One being “The Grass is Always Greener” Ah! Well! “Just over the next hill.” Jax

RW here,

What’s work? I seem to have forgotten.

“We fish for pleasure; I for mine, you for yours.” -James Leisenring on fishing the wet fly-

The secret is to NOT plan for a whole day of fishing but instead get out for what ever amount of time you can squeeze in before, after, during work and on weeekends.

I fish Tricos in the summer before work some days; stop by a lake or pond for an hour’s bass fishing at lunch, and often times grab an hour or two on the way home from the office. This does require that you have your stuff in the trunk most times.

Of course I do have MANY all day and weekend trips but if I counted on only 4-10 hour fishing trips I’d get out a couple of dozen times of year instead of the 150+ times I average now.

Well, I split my time between AZ and Lake Tahoe area, In each area depending upon the season I also get early in the a.m. for a few hours. Further on “time splitting”, I split my time between skiing, ffshin, and therapy dog programs. Note the word “work” doesn’t show up on my keyboard.

As Retirement life goes on, I’m beginning to wonder when in hell I had time to work back in the old days. Oh yeah, now I remember… I didn’t ffish or visit sick kids at all, and I only got in 6 -10 days of skiing per year.

Finally, you might note that the preponderance of my entries on this board are done in the wee hours while everyone else out there but Jax down in Kiwi Land is sleeping. (Actually, I hear that he “sleeps” a lot more than I give him credit for.)

And to echo Betty Nah Nah Nah Nah Na!
