I fancied myself a rod builder for a while, and bought an Amtak blank, the one with the fancy spirals on it, and played “make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” with it. It’s an 8’ 4 wt, amboyna reel seat, pretty hand turned grip, and can’t remember what guides I put on it. So I did an OK job with it, and it looks great to me, and casts nice, but I have other rods I like better. In terms of money, it’s worthless to me, but somebody just starting out or looking for something pretty might like to have it?

The rod will be going to one of the students in our upcoming fly tying class out here in the Monadnock region of NH. I can’t thank herefishy enough for this gesture. We also have a lap desk, materials and tools that were donated and will be going to another student in the upcoming class.
