Heard reports that there were things to see in the country to the south; decided to investigate. Here’s the Cliff Notes version so far
Bitterroots were rainy
Lost Rivers were sunny
Craters of the Moon (no cheese found)
Bryce (up looking down)
Zion (down looking up)
Coral Pink Sand Dunes SP (great park by the way; thanks Utah)
More to follow as bandwidth becomes available.

Scott

Awesome pictures Scott. I’ve never been on the North rim of GC. Nice trip report. Jim
Great pics. I prefer the North Rim for the lack of crowds…

Agree 100%. South Rim views/hiking were spectacular, too (pics to follow later) but a lot more biped sightings.

North Kaibab Trail (only did 3.5 miles on it)

Drove down to the South Rim the next day and hiked the other way; again only about 3 miles, but at 100+ again that was fine. Scored a campsite last minute at Mather; nice showers.
South Kaibab

balky alternator ended things a bit prematurely, but the Dodge had enough left to get us home (actually this is a shot of the Missions outside St. Ignatius; too dark to take a pic in Whitefish but you get the idea)
