I never understand why when I see parents/adults piggybacking on a back pack rig with kids when wading rivers and streams. The potential for mishaps is great, especially wading even moderate flowing waters and being top heavy.
I worked in fire prevention, safety and security for around 50 years, over half of that involving the hospitality industry, where you invite thousands of unknown strangers to sleepover. If people did the smart things I would have had to find a productive job. The three forces that kept me gamefully employed were gravity, greed and stupidity. Sometimes, you can manage to minimize their effect, but they are always out there waiting for the next person to come along.
I am looking forward to backpacking my grand daughter but not in the river. When she get older we will go wade in the cold water on a hot day.
You got it Jesse. They are out there. Great picture!!
Fritzs’ VERY good post aside, Uncle J, THAT is the most preciousest pic I’ve seen all year. So take good care of yourself so that you WILL BE able to do that stuff with her :>).

PS: Sorry for the late reply , just got back from a “fishing” trip to Northern Wisconsin.
Mark, Katy Mae is most likely the only grandchild we will ever have born to our children. We have an 11 year old step granddaughter who is a real sweetheart but being the “step” grandparents we don’t get much time with her. If I ever had anything make me happier I don’t know what it was. I’m in the early stages of building her a rocking horse (unicorn), trying to keep it under 500 lbs. I can hardly wait to drown some crickets with her.
She’s a cutie.
