I’mm looking for a good susbstitute for peccary hair. I don’t live in pig country unfortunately. Also a good sub for porcupine quills. Any suggestions?

cg36,

Not sure you’ll find good substitutes for those materials. They have specific properties. Packs of these are not that expensive and most of the quality mail order catalogs stock them.

Allan

Check with your local taxidermist for any of his or her trimmings.

all types of fishermen must pull together for the good of all!!!

Tyeflies dyes them and sells them at not much of a profit I know. He gives good service and is a Super guy.
Shoot him an e-mail. His are the real thing, not a substitute.

I appreciate the advise. Never thought of the taxidermist. Kinda rather do purchases and swaps thru here though. I learn too much from this site to go and buy elsewhere.

Thanks Brian, I appreciate the offer. Allen is sending me a few already. I don’t want to be greedy and take advantage.
