Is it just me or are eyed quills getting “worse”? I’m scraping the herl off and

  1. they’re skinny and not very segmented colored ( all up or down the quill)
  2. break really easily

Are the feathers either from too young or too old a bird?

I recall better feathers, but maybe I’m imagining things
