Peacocik Herl

During a move or a paroxysm of cleaning, I lost most of my fly tying materials, which I’m grad\dually replacing. The question of the day is: where do you source the very best peacock herl? I’m looking for 5+ inch long herls with follicles (?) almost as long as swords have. Why not use swords, you ask. The follicles (what IS the right word here?) vary too much in length for an even look.

So where is the best source?

Thanks!
Peter

I purchased some eyed sticks a few years ago on Amazon and was very happy with the quality of the herl; unfortunately, I used it all up. Recently purchased some more from the same vendor and the stuff isn’t nearly as good. Feathercraft used to claim they had the best herl but I’ve never tried theirs so I can’t say.

Regards,
Scott

I get mine from Continentialfeathers.com. Have to order in large amounts.
