Another interesting Russian pattern. In the couple I’ve tied, I found softer hair worked better for the wing; if the loop starts coming apart, which it probably will, just trim the top and it’ll become a standard ungulate hair parachute.
hook - Dai Riki 320 #12
thread - MFC 8/0 sand
tail - dun grizzly
abdomen - turkey biot callibaetis
wing - yearling elk
thorax - dubbing yellow/tan mix
hackle - dun grizzly
Part 1
mash barb (looks like this one needs to have the point sharpened a bit!), start thread at 2/3 mark; wrap to point above barb and create a bump

even hackle fiber tips, measure (shank length); tie in, wrap against the bump to splay/set angle

tie in (moistened) biot, notch-side down for ribbed effect; wrap to 2/3 mark, tie off/trim

clean, stack, trim tips on a sparse clump of elk hair; tie in at 3/4 mark

fold over needle/bodkin/whatever, adjust height (shank length), tie down; trim butts, post wing
