I have been playing at the the vice.
Who still has open water and would like to try a couple of flies?
I don’t want to wait until spring to find out if they work for gills.

Hey Rick,
Post a picture for the rest of us sorry buggers, who are living the freeze over also.
You never know, you just might inspire us to get back to the tying bench.
Take care,
chris
Shame on you - Don’t let the Mrs find out (lol) (viCe)

Rick,
I’ve got open water and it looks as if it will be that way for a while. If you still have my addy I’d be glad to field test them for you.
Thanks,
Greg
Still open water here in Al. of course…and if these flies you want tested are anything like the ones I got from you earlier this year…Yep, you betcha I would like to try them out…Rob
Hey Rick,
Thanks for the offer. I still have (believe it or not) some open water. However, I’m too MAMBY PAMBY to go outside. If you post some pics, I may (NOT) change my mind.
Rick,
Big Creek Lake is reportedly frozen over, as is Badger Creek Lake. In fact, some of the guys in our fishing club have been out on the ice already, reporting thicknesses of 2.5"-4" as of 2 days ago. Saw kids walking on the ponds here in Ankeny today as well.
Plenty of yellow and white gbass here in NW AL, and and occasional SMB, Oh yeah a few good bluegills too.
The computer at home is still not fixed.
Can’t uplaod pictures from the library computer.
When it is fixed I will get the pictures on.
Rick
Got some dandy woven bodied flies, as well as some other patterns; will hopefully try them over the weekend. Thanks Rick … I need to learn how to weave.
Not much for any open waters up here in NW., IA and we got one dandy of a winter storm coming through tomorrow. Sounds a bad one!
Probably won’t see any open waters till around late Feb., or March here
Mike
Plenty of open water here, Rick. I’ll test your creations!
Riok, got plenty of water here in SW MS. I went yesterday for a couple of hours in a great pond but the wind was blowing about 15 to 20 miles per hour according to local weather prognosticator. I think it was more than that. Caught a few lmb and missed several others. Keeps raining like it is now and I could try them out from my front porch. If you still need help trying flies out, I am game. mathcarver
Saw a couple trucks out on the ice today, gonna be awhile till that’s all gone. Most years, end of march or early april
Mickalo, Better batten down, we got 50 mile wind with that storm. GL Wichita.
Yep we got hit pretty hard last night and it’s starting up again tonight with the high winds now and more snow. Got about 12" so far.
Just about everything in the area is closed up now, roads are totally covered and no travel at all, can’t go anywhere. I heard they are closing most of I-29 here in the state too.
Mike
we will see open water …in april…
All my water remains open here in N TX - cold but open
Plenty of open water here in Tennessee, Rick. I’ll field test them, many gills here.
Better yet. Bring your flies on down and let’s go fishin’!
Anything from trout to small mouth bass.
Bass, bream, crappie by the boat load(with the right guide…and that isn’t me. But I know someone that can get us on them)
