The same place that has the blanks I mentioned has a bunch of old Flex-Coat high build where there has been a bit of leakage from one bottle of the other that has crystallized. The leakage has crystallized, not the contents of the bottle. We are talking very minor leakage, here. You can’t really see a difference in the levels in the bottles. Seepage might be a better term. In some of the bottles, things are a little cloudy on what looks like the inside surface of the bottle itself.
Does this stuff go bad? I may be able to get a dozen of the 4oz sets (2 2oz bottles) for really cheap. I would be happy to pass the good fortune along if the stuff is usable.
Hi Kevin…
I’ve been using lots of different epoxes now for maybe 25 years, I’ve used some stuff that was very old…several years, and the outside of the containers was very sticky and dirty. So far, it seems to me, as long as you use equal parts of resin & hardner, and it’s clear… it works fine. If you get very many, I’d be interested in 2 or three 4 oz. sets
P.M. me & I’ll shoot ya the dough right off…ModocDan
Its like honey when it crystallizes…warm it slightly and it “goes back”…AS LONG AS it hasnt been mixed together…then all it does it “solidify” faster than normal. Thats the reason I got away from using “Flex Coat” finish…because as slow as I was at applying wrap finish…it would get too hard to apply on ME…( at the slow rate I put it on back then)
It will be fine to use. If it’s a bit thick/cloudy/yellow looking in the bottle then just take the top off and pop it in the microwave for about 12-15 seconds (depending on the strength of your microwave) and that will clear it right up good as new with no issues.
