Fished my home water yesterday afternoon. After wearing out an OC pattern, I looked in my fly box and noticed a couple FEB Hoppers left over from last summer. One was a pointless version and I started with it. Had a half dozen fishies hit it hard enough that they would have hooked up on a pointed version.
Moved on to another spot and again started with an OC pattern. After it was worn out, I tied on a pointed version of the FEB Hopper. Got some really good action with it, to include the above 17" West Slope cutthroat. Went back to the first place I had fished, and landed a bunch more fishies with the November Hopper.
Thanks for pointing that out. Karen commented that she had the same problem on the Lochsa thread.
My new security program identified and, I believe, repaired a problem I had with photobucket resulting from a minor virus infection on my computer a few days ago. I plan to redo the pix here and on the Lochsa thread via photobucket as soon as I have a chance to check it out.
Hey John, that looks just like a fly I fish. Just kidding! I know it’s your creation and it still works for me, too. Really nice fish.
What is the O. C. pattern? I must have missed something.
It didn’t do as well early this Fall as last year, but it ended up being another really good fly recently when the fishies finally starting looking up for the big caddis.
Sorry, John. As they say, my bad. I did see the October Caddis link. I must have been having a mentally slow day. Hope everything is well with you.
