Who are those who get onto the Forum with no “id” and just call themselves “guest”?
They can read posts but not participate. They may have found us by a search for the topic of the thread or check the board quite often without signing up.
I have seen several posts lately by “guest” I know that there are probably thousands of “lurkers” who read the board, and use the site as a reference, but I hadn’t noticed these “guest” posts until recently.

Guest in this case is a former member. Possibly someone pruned in the recent trimming of the members list. I recognized some of the posts and knew who had first posted them…No, my memory isn’t that good but I knew their writng style
I noticed a couple posts by “guest” also the past couple days, and was curious what change might have brought that about. Guess it doesn’t really make any difference as long as their contribution is positive and moves along the thread they choose to participate in.

I’m not 100 percent positive about this, but there’s been at least one or two really old threads dredged up over the last week or so here. I recall that not too long ago they went through and culled a bunch of handles/names that were inactive for quite a while and that may be a reason why it comes up as guest. I’ve read on other forums where somebody’s gotten banned and their post is still there, but their handle/name just says guest too.

I agree that it makes no difference to me if the person logs on as “guest” so long as their post is respectful. However, I think it would be wise for all of those people who might log on as “guest” or even those who read the forums but never post to sign up for an ID. I say this because this site is supported by sponsors (at least I believe it is) who probably look at the number of members/active members that a site has when deciding whom to give their money to. Signing up doesn’t cost anything, and helps to keep the site up and running for all of us to enjoy.

When a membership has been deleted for inactivity or other reasons, their posts carry the handle of Guest. In order to post on the BB you still have to register and be a member.
