no click fly reel

Any ideas for a good reel that is reliable with a good drag system that does not make any clicking noises?
Thanks Gang

I don’t like a loud clicker on my reels either.
I have several of the Allen trout reels, the old version, and they do not click.

I have lately been using a Ross Flyrise reel, and I really like it better than any others I have tried. It has a faint click, I don’t mind it at all. It is a little cheaper then the Allen, but Allen does run sales from time to time.

What’s your target species? Panfish, trout, bass, bonefish, trevally, tuna?

I believe Solitude reels are completely silent. They have models to cover most conditions through medium wt saltwater.

Reliable, good drag, easy…Abel

True. Not aware of any Abel reels that are silent in both directions though. All of mine either click in both directions or on the retrieve.

Op was not clear though if he wanted silent in both directions or just outgoing.

The original Bauer McKenzie reels. They have a quiet outgoing clicker that is easily disabled. Not sure if their newer reels work the same.

Lamson Waterworks.

I believe that all of the Galvan reels are silent and they are very well made reels with excellent drag systems.

Man, if I actually hook a fish that rips off line I want to hear that Hardy sing it’s tune. Don’t hear it that often so louder the better.

Can’t answer your question, although I’d like to know why you prefer a silent reel? Me, I love to hear a reel sing!

Well, when you are sneaking into the fish hatchery at midnight…

Just joking!!!

If you have unlimited funds, there are hundreds of options, if you are on a limited budget look at the Bass Pro reels for around $30 - 40 dollars they hold up very well for most fresh water fish in my region. A big striper might do one in but nice sized catfish and grass carp have come to hand using them. I believe they advertise having a record red fish on one of their reel in Texas. I expect Cabelas has similar products.

I like the possibilities here thanks. I checked out the some of the reels mentioned I like them all Abel Allen and the Galvan are all very nice. I have a G Loomis Venture 5 that has a pretty quiet clicker and that is the goal for the Midnight hatchery fishing. LOL

I agree with Uncle Jesse with regard to Bass Pro’s reels. I own and have used several of them and they are all still working without issue. I cannot say that about other budget reels.
