Night Fishing

On the way home from work I noticed a full moon rising and there was no wind so I decided to try some night fishing. I tried a black popper, a white bugger and a small chartruse popper with no results even though I saw several fish hitting the surface. This was only my second time at night fly fishing so it’s too early to decide that it’s not for me.

I’d like some opinions on night fly fishing, if you’ve had much luck and what you used.

Thanks!

We GENERALLY use something ON top or something that bulges water. Nothing quite like seeing it happen at night.
Often we have gone thru periods of complete inactivity, only to have it go “gang busters” an hour later. Don’t know why. We sure like being there when it happens though. It IS so nice and peaceful and quite at night, even if it doesn’t happen, it’s grand.

hang in there, night fishing can be a blast. That and wee hours up until dawn.
