David, it is the Fly of the Week. You can find it by going to our main page: http://www.flyanglersonline.com

Betty, bless you a thousand times!
From earlier posts, I made one for my wife who really enjoys hummingbirds. We have three feeders and during the summer months we often see 4-5 hummers at them frequently. They’re VERY territorial.
I used green dyed grizzly hackle for the long tail feathers, peacock colored angel hair for the back feathers, a white body with red at the throat (red-throated hummingbirds!) and wings of olive dyed partridge. Put them on a Mustad 37187 wide gap hook. A number 6 was the largest I had (our bass like it) so it was a tad small. Dear wife thought it was wonderful.
Thanks very much.

Bill

Betty, what a creative fly. One question though, does the glass ball effect hook-set when using the fly? HAHAHAHA.

I love that fly, what a great ornament. I think I just found my weekend project and my contribution to the family christmas tree.

Betty,

Son’s mother-in-law collects anything with hummingsbirds so I made her one using your previous instructions. Just changed the ingredients around a little. Got both big and small clear plastic bulbs from the Michael’s craft store and tried creating several different flies; some from normal instructions and some just out of the blue. Everyone loved them last Christmas time and plan on doing it again thsi year. Best looking, I think, was a huge, fluorescent, green, marabou, sort of Wooly Bugger imitation. Barely fit into the biggest bulb. Offered one to the folks that installed our new flooring and it went over really big as the lady half of the duo collects one of a kind Christmas tree ornaments. She liked it so much I gave hre three others ones too. Wonderful idea-thanks.

Cute fly Betty. Pretty neat little pattern!

Jeremy.
