Ok here have 3 volcanos playing up right now, one inland (Tongariro), another one (White Island) just off the coast from where I am and an underwater one way north of us putting pumice into the sea.

That is one large float of pumice. Wonder what kind of effect it will have on the ocean critters or once it reaches shore, what effect it will have. Hopefully they will have a clean up plan in affect by the time it reaches shore, where ever that may be

Thanks Ike. I keep trying to keep up but the news is all about the olympics. I know about Tongariro going off but not about White Island or the underwater one. Jim

Sounds like a good supply of pumice for Lava Soap.

Take care down there don’t slip on any ice when you go fishing.

Thanks for the concern, I was in the Cook Islands on vacation so missed the whole thing! Does not look like a big eruption so should all be good if it does not go off again! White Island is the most active volcano in NZ but it was certainly a shock to hear about Tongariro going off, the first time in over a century! Hope it stays quite the last time Ruapehu went off (in the mid 90s) it put a heap of ash in to the Tongariro river and the trout did not like it one bit.
Here is a picture of the 3 volcanos in the central North Island taken from the top end of lake Taupo. They are a sight to see on a clear day.

Hi Jim, I put a report on the cooks in the fishing reports thread. Great place, good people and good weather, stunning lagoon, we are very lucky to be able to visit so easily from NZ.
I think Jeff is just very busy with work and 2 kids.
