I would like to thank JC for the second quote of the week, from his new article.
“I would have done better standing on the road and beggin’ fish from passing pickups”
The first thing I wanted to do was LAUGH til I CRY!
You must read a lot or your a naturally talented person.
I wish that I’d been at the Fish-In, just to see you try to flag down the pickups!
Thanks for making me laugh!
Doug
JC wasn’t alone. I took Me 4 days to finally land some small cuts the first I had ever seen. My first two days at Three rivers (Lowell) were spent just trying to get a fishing licence because of a bad Storm that knocked out the Three Rivers computer. I finally had to travel to Kooskia to find a computer terminal that was still on line. Finally on the 3rd day with my licence in hand I spent 4 hours on the Selway catching just 2 10 inch whitefish. ( Who knew there were even whitfish there? ) I also hooked and lost what I am fairly sure was a chub. (who knew there were chub?)Everyone else was reporting at least a few cutthroats. Finally day 4 I crept up on a large pool, sat down on a low rock hidden by a larger rock and cast over it into a crystal clear pool beyond and began catching some rather small cuts. There were lots of them but they were just out of minnow school. It was a bit frustrating. I spent most of my time re-learning how to untie knots that the “wind” caused in my line. Funny the water looked very calm but I’m sure It must have been very windy as I had tons of wind knots. The Locksa and the Selway rivers are the clearest water you have ever seen and are way beyond beautiful. Even if I had never caught a fish they were well worth the 1100 kilometers I traveled to get there.
I wonder if anyone thought to make arrangements with the caddisflies, to make sure THEY would be there!
That bugs me. ![]()
