We’ve had west wind and waves crashing on the beach now for three weeks. But when I too the dog out for a walk this morning, there was no wind. So, I headed for the beach.
I fished Manasota Key and did really good. I tied up a new fly and want to test it. Don’t have a name for the fly, yet, but that will come.
Ended up with 21 snook to 28 inches and a Spanish mackerel. I probably saw 300-400 snook in the surf.
The beach geography has changed since the last time I was there and the fish were a little farther out. But they were hungry.
Man Steve, you really know how to tease us landlubbers. I’m beginning to think that the Florida fish-in should be later in the year so that we can enjoy some of what you guys are getting to enjoy right now.
You’d have a lot of fun … that’s for sure. But this year’s beach snook fishing is the best in a long, long time. It’s a great game of sight-fishing. I’m sure you’d enjoy it!
I got a late start this past Saturday (the sun was above the horizon) but I hooked up with 4 Snook on a D.T. Special. You gotta love Manasota Key. I’m planning to be out Tuesday morning maybe run into you.
I didn’t see you out ther on Tuesday. If you didn’t make it, you didn’t miss much. The Gulf of Mexico was stirred up (probably because that hurricane to the west. We had to blind cast. We hooked seven and landed five – nothing of any size.
