My source for 3XL pearl mylar tubing to cover a 1/2" foam popper body stopped carrying the material. Any recommendations for where to look for a new source?
With my limited skills I need something with a decent weave so that it’s not totally unraveled by the time I work the leading edge up to the front of the popper.
Guys - Thanks for the quick replies. I’ll take a look at Hook & Hackle.
Countrygent36 - Unfortunately BPS (or the White River Fly Shop) was the supplier that I was referring to that stopped carrying the extra wide tubing.
Let me know how it works, I’m thinking about ordering some too. [url=http://www.basspro.com:4d99c]www.basspro.com[/url:4d99c] I think it said $1.99 a yard. You can still order it online Thomas, no tax, but its better to work up a full order to take advantage of shipping charges.
If flyfishing were a sin, I’de be the devil’s right hand man.

You can color that stuff with a permanent marker also to create other colors that still have the flashiness of the default mylar.
I used some of the small diameter stuff a while back to tie some minnows. Colored it an olive green, tied some maribou on for a tail, tied the mylar near the eye (sticking forward), then turned it inside out as I pushed it towards the tail to tie it off. That keeps the head really neat.
Shape it a bit, add some detail to the sides (eyes, oval spots like a fingerling would have, gill line, etc) then coat with SoftTex to lock in the shape.
