My Recipe

How excited was I to check out the Whats Cookin column only to find my recipe posted there !!

Thanks LadyFisher…Hope you all make and enjoy the dish.

looks delicious, Mrs. Knepp. Have you every substituted shrimp for burger? Great for stuffed peppers. JGW

Why no I have not, interesting variation…thank you!!

Chop the shrimp, I should add. Instead of a beef-based Ricaroni use the Jamican version of Zaterans. Now you’ve got some serious cooking going on. Mr. Knepp will be most pleased, especially if you pour a nice dry white with the meal. Bon Apetite! JGW

Mrs.K, Few things are better than a fried SPAM sammich ,but, this recipe sounds like one of those. Barring a catastrophe, it’s on our menu this PM. I’ll let you know after the plate licking.

Yes, I’ll have the roast duck with the mango salsa.

MrsKnepp…Recipe sounds great!

Marco…Due to heavy troop movements in VietNam, during which we suffered through a steady diet of Spam & powdered eggs, I no longer will go NEAR either. IMHO, there is NO pallatable way to prepare them. Our mess Sgt was almost a homicide victim! Mentioning EITHER around me EVER again may be hazardous to your health!!
Mikey
ps: See you in Michigan, Mark!..pps:NO Spam!

You can call me Mike & you can call me Mikey…Just remember that this site’s about sharing!

Hey Mikey, ( Sorry Mrs.K for temp hijack)
Onaccounta SPAM being a staple in my fishing mess kit, I just gotta have it. I’ll just have to secret it into the fish-in enclave under cammo wrap and I promise not to mention the product in any conversation ( mainly for fear that others with the same high culinary expectations may want some).I do agree however on your disdain for powdered eggs.
But… I just remembered, brisket is on the menu so maybe, just this one time, I’ll forego the “mystery meat”.

Not a problem Marco, some things just need to be said !! I made yummy blueberry custard pies over the weekend…maybe that will be the next submission.

Mrs. K.,
Just finished dinner of YOUR great stuffed peppers. They’re BETTER than we thought they would be. I even went the extra mile and paid the 3.00 per lb for the varied colored peppers. It had to be the Rice-a-Roni and the Parmesan sprinkle that made all the difference in taste. My compliments for a very delicious dish. Now I am awaiting your blueberry custard pie threat. Bring it on!!

NO Spam allowed in this house!!! Yikes I’d have to be starving for that…LOL

Sardines in mustard sauce are always welcome though!!! Great fishing snack!!!

Mrs.Knepp: I have a delicious Buttermilk Custard Pie, with Roasted Pecans topping the pie. It was the gotten from the USS. Missouri. President Harry Truman loved it so much, he asked the pastery cook for the recipe. The Pastry Cook, told the President that the recipe was not government property. So Harry never got the recipe.

That sounds declicious, but if Mr. President himself couldn’t have it, how are we gonna get it

Sardomes in Mustard, Hot Sauce, water, kippered, even ketchup. My favorite is olive oil but it is hard to find now, they use soy bean oil and it just insn’t the same. I’m heading to the pantry, where is that can of sardines?

Marco,

I agree whole heartedly of the addition of cheese to most things…Mrs. Knepp does not use much cheese in her cooking as she is quite lactose intolerant so I add dairy products where I want em after things are cooked and my portion is well away from where her’s can be contaminated…So tweaking is as always with any recipe…to ones taste…It is different as my mother made many things with milk added …It’s a little thing but one does not realize these little things till they’ve suddenly disappeared…But I love her cooking just the same.

Many things that Shari makes she never tastes…Such as the fine Custard pies…She does do requests for me!!! and the boys who do not share the no dairy trait.

Lucky man, Am I!!!
