My "Old Rod"

JC’s article inspired me to dig out a rod given to me about 20 years ago. It’s a 3 piece with two tips. Only markings on it are “Gateway Deluxe” in gold script. Looks like it’s been refinished (not a world-class job), but overall, is in pretty good shape.

Unfortunately, both tip tops and a couple of ferrules are loose.

Hate to break it - but I’d like to fish it just the same.

So, opinions - should I glue it and ‘fish’ it or relegate it to it’s tube as a keep sake?

I’d say get some ferrule cement, glue it back up and fish it as often as possible. Afterall, that’s what it was made for, right?

Oh, and you may want to throw on a coat of varnish as well.
