Thanks Jeff. I don’t have but a few Chukar feathers in that size that will work. I bought a little baggy with some in it. These weren’t true matching pairs. Trying to find pics of some of these flies is just about impossible. I am glad you liked the fly!!

That’s an excellent choice. His other book of flies (New Zealand Trout flies, Traditional and Modern), is an older version of Trout Flies in New Zealand - so you have the more up to date one. He’s written a good biography of Fred Fletcher (titled: Mr Hundred Percent) which is a very good read. Fred Fletcher ran the Waitahanui Lodge in Taupo during the 30s, and was a larger than life local character.

I think you’ll enjoy your book a great deal.

You won’t find many photos of killers as they seem to be “World Famous in New Zealand” (which is a local joke). However, the proportions you’ve got in both your Mrs. Simpson and the Orange Witch is spot on.
