This is a great tie for baetis happening now. Thanks

Bruce,

Thanks. Forgot to mention I used the shorter shank DR 305 to get the gap of an #18 on the shank length of a standard #20 hook. I guess I could have also used a true emerger hook like the DR 125 to get the wider gap, which I’ll do on anything smaller.

Scott

One on my favorite patterns here in Colorado. Especially in the Roaring Fork Valley. I tie it in Gray or Black, mostly on the Mustad 3906 hook in size 18-20, or for a longer version, the Mustad 9671 in size 18. I have used scud hooks in size 20 as well. I think I will go back to adding the hen hackle for wing/gills. Great work Scott.

So is this a nymph or more of an emerger/cripple to be fished in the film? Is that packing foam you are using for the wingcase?

Thanks.

I fish it at any depth of the water column. From bottom to just under the surface. I usually fish the emerger with a Soft Hackle or Two. Scott has the pattern dialed in perfectly for how it should be tied.

This is the foam I use.
