I was trying to get a muddler style head without the floatation of deer hair. The head is craft fur in a dubbing loop and trimmed. The craft fur was not long enough to give me the head I was looking for but I think it will catch fish.
Nice pattern. I wonder if you could use a thin zonker strip from a pine squirrel. Two or three tight wraps, and it would stand up like deerhair without the floatation. Just a thought…

I might pick up some tan or brownish strips next time I’m in a fly shop. Even if doesn’t work, you can’t have too many colors of pine squirrel.
