Matching the hatch

Book review by Tom Travis

This is a revised edition of the long time classic by the late Ernie Schwiebert. This volume was one of the projects that Ernie was working on prior to his passing, however due to the work of his family and the publisher this revised edition has been published in the 21st century where it can once offer a whole generation of fly fishers the insight and knowledge from a legendary fly fisher.

I have well used copy of the first edition on my bookshelf and I can’t begin to tell you the number of times I have referred to it over the years, nor can I describe all the knowledge I have gleaned from this small book.

I think that copy of this new revised edition should be on the bookshelf of any new fly fisher who is serious about the fly fishing and I believe that copy of this volume belongs in the library of any of the older anglers who grew up learning and devouring the words from this legendary American fly fisher.

Not only does Ernie educate the angler he also delights the angler with his literary brilliants as a wordsmith.

Enjoy & Good Fishin’
