matched goose primaries

Okay, so I shot a few geese today and have some matched pairs of primaries. What’s the preferred method of keeping them together?

A piece of Duct Tape. Strip the fuzz off the base of the quill.

Hi,
You could put the pairs in separate bags, but that could end up with a lot of bags with just 2 feathers each. Or, you could use a permanent marker to colour the tips matching colours; a red pair, a green pair, etc. If you have more matched pairs than colours, you could do bars, red/red, red/green, green/red, and green/green. That could be a backup, as you could also just use a needle and thread and put the thread through the stems to tie them together on a loop. The colour bars could be a back up in case the threads break.

the way i do mine is i have a peice of cherry wood 1/4" by 4" by 4"…i drilled holes with an 8th" drill bit in the wood to hold matching pairs & each hole is labled as to what the matching pair are…this takes up a small cotner on my desk & on hand when i need a pair to use fer wing segmants…the bottom of the wood is covered with cork so the feathers dont stick through the bottom of the holes & scratch up my desk…
