Hello all, I fished a small stream just out of Matamata (the place where they filmed Hobiton in the Lord of the rings) in the Waikato on Friday. It is a very small stream and it was a bit murky due to rain early in the week. I only managed 1 brown and 2 rainbows and my mate who was on his first small stream trip ever managed to get one rainbow and one brown. The biggest fish was only about 25cm. But we had a great time and I managed to only fall in once, and my back survived the day well! Plenty of small brown mayfly were comming off but no rises were seen and all fish took small P.T. nymphs.

Glad to hear your back held up and the stream was fishable! Sounds like a successful outing. Sometimes the small guys can be really fiesty.
