Any one have or use a Mako reel? What has been you experience with them? For the money, are they worth it - or, are there other reels that you think are better for the money.
Don’t have one. However, Jack Charlton is well known for his reels. Just check the prices for the used ones.
Those who are fortunate to have the money swear by them and if you can afford the very best you won’t be disappointed. If you’re looking for something a little more affordable, check out Sea Level reels:

A lot of folks who fish down in Baja use them and love them. I figure if they can stand up to those conditions, they’re worth looking at.

Scott
My buddy just bought one and loves it. $$$$, but I’d say you get what you pay for.
Do you wnat the reel to hold it’s value after you are done with it, or do you just care about how it fishes? If you care about getting a reel for fishing and investment, consider a Seamaster. Used reels routinely sell for more than you paid and they will last and last.
