Lost Gear

I had an unfortunate incident while fishing the Sturgeon River in the northern lower penninsula of Michigan this past weekend. I lost a favorite rod; an Orvis 7’ 4 wt. One Ounce, CFO I reel and “boonie” hat given to me by my daughter a couple of Father’s Days ago.

If any of you are fishing the Sturgeon and find any of the above I would greatly appreciate their return.

Darn sorry about your lose, but it does sound like you ‘fell in’ or something like it? Ya OK?

I’m ok. Thanks for asking. Did get a good scare though; fell upstream in a heavy current and my waders filled pretty quickly.

Glad you survived ‘Floating your hat.’ If you make it to the Michigan Fish-In, I will lend you a rod if you need one.

Thanks, Castwell.

Phil

Well Phil, sounds like a mini-adventure. Glad its only things money can buy and not broken body parts. Give it some time and it will make a great story for after dinner conversation.

Are you saying, no finders-keepers?

Look forward to meeting you at the Fish-In. Anything else you need? Reel? Flies? WADING STAFF!?!? Got plenty of room to bring stuff in the car.

on my second time in float tube trip. i set rod my new rod on tube and picked up hook to tie on.
now were did my rod go too? Lost both my new reel and rod they were less than a week old,
now i will get a rod leash.took me all winter to get back what went over board

Backwoods,

Sorry to hear of your loss. Frustrating and disappointing.

shure was. i started with new rod/reel were funds could of gone else were.

yep Thats happened to me before, except I didnt fall in. when I was living in alaska I was fishing a Pink salmon run their was a spinfisher guy from georgia not having any luck. So I put down my rod on teh edge of the creek in a back eddy leaned up against a tree I turned around to help the guy out and when I was done I turned back around to see my Loomis GL3 rod gone floated down stream :frowning: . I ended up replacing it with a rod that I hate because it was the only 8wt they had in the store, wish I still had my 4pc Gl3

I never lost any rods overboard or in the river, but my wonderful brother has the distinction of losing TWO of MY rods in consecutive years at the same lake! God had mercy on him because I snagged the second rod from the bottom of the lake.
If you doze off in the boat and your not holding your fishing rod, the fish seem to sense this and your whole day could be ruined!
