Vintage? Old fiberglass? Bamboo? What size and line weight? You can find old reels at a REEL bargin on e-bay. There are some fine Kalamazoo Shakespears you can get for around $15.00 to $20.00. Most will come with vintage line attached also. Good luck!

Edited to add - I apologize for the grumpy face…not sure how that ended up there

Jowell- good advice From DT above. I would snap up the #55237 Ocean City #35 for $10.00 or like I mentioned earlier, there is a very nice Kalamazoo Sheakspear #55240 for only $35.00. It will hold more line than the Ocean City. Good luck again…

I use Medalists on all my 'boo rods, and think they look and balance great.

I like the weight of the Pflueger Medalist RC reels to balance out the tip heavy bamboo rods I have (Montys, SBs, HIs). The RC also have “modern” feet that fit the reelseats much easier. I’ve seen them $25-50 max. and sometime less on ebay.

Dear joel,

There are also some nice JW Young reels out there that can be had for a reasonable price too.

Best Wishes,

Jonezee Sir, You have email.
Thanks.

I picked up a vintage 1494 for my boo and a newer 1595 for the berkley glass…I should be all set!

Don’t lean that Monty and 1494 set-up against a '52 Chevy 5 window pickup or we’ll lose you to a time warp! Glad you found your line holders for both rods.
