Loaner Rods

We’ve had lots of company this past year, and many were non fishers who wanted to try their hand at fly fishing for an afternoon.

I’m a bit protective of my gear. So I ordered a couple of [url=http://www.sierratradingpost.com/product.aspx?baseno=70845&CN=Orvis-Streamline-Mid-Flex-Fishing-Fly-Rod:ffbd8]these[/url:ffbd8] to have on hand for visitors.

They arrived today, and I’m VERY pleased with the purchase.

A friend of mine ordered one several weeks ago, we lawn cast it last week end. His is a 5wt.it feels like a fast rod, paired it up with some Globel Dorber Aqua Nova WF line on an old Martin reel I gave him, nice outfit for the money. The fly reel seat leavea a little to be desired, but the wrapping looks good and the setup cast a fly. He is happy. Like the old saying goes…“Fish don’t care what you paid for it”. Rory is a member hre, his name is swanee, I don’t think he has posted yet, next time I see him, I’ll lightly prod him.

I keep talking about the $59.95 combo from SA. The comboI used in Michigan. Complete rig, ready to fish. I just ordered two more. They all thought I was using a custom rod. Hope someone buys one.

But all I needed was rods. Had reels and lines aplenty.

JC, I think you are reffering to the Wally World rig. yes, it is fine outfit for the money. My same friend got a 8 wt Scientifidc Angler rod with extend butt for $35.OO on line from Sierra TP. It is a better looking and made rod than the Orvis IMO. Neither rod comes with a sock, the Orvis came with a flimsy clear plastic tube. Throw away, and put into a nice custom double rod carrier we ordered from FLY Lady in Montana.

I got back into fly fishing with one of those SA Wal-Mart specials. Gave it to a buddy of mine to get him back into our sport too. He has been fishing with it for three years now. All he had to do was put new backing, line, leader and tippet on it. They do a good job casting. I think they even come with a small selection of flies now. Well worth the money.

Jonezee,
Was that case purchased from “A Lady’s Angle”? If so, I bought one, & will soon order another. They are fine cases, aren’t they?

Yes Tuber, Lisa is also a guide in Montana. I expecially like the fleece lining to protect the reels. I have one and my friend just ordered one. Exceptional quality.

A licensed guide in Montana has to work for an ‘Outfitter’. LF knows this because she was the first lady guide. Who does she work under?

Wish the Wally World reg came in a 5 wt???

… and a 3 wt. and a 1 wt. and a 10 wt…

they are referring to Lisa Bardole she runs a company called A Ladies Angle, out of Libby Mt.
She works for Silverbow Outfitters and Guest ranch.
If I remember right she is a team Hyde member also.
If you see her boat on the water you will remember it.It’s a very unusual color.
