Limestoned 2012

Had to deliver a Care package to the youngest and parlayed a stop at the local spring creek into the supply drop.

Pretty countryside:

Entering hallowed ground:

Blah, blah, blah:

Launching pad:

Got stonewalled here:

Streamside meal? Not unless I want to fill my waders from the inside:

Part 2

Weather was supposed to be cloudy and in the 40’s; I got sunshine, wind and low 30’s; fish didn’t seem to mind.

3 hours fishing, ended up with 4 in the boat and a couple refusals. Nothing spectacular but 1st fish of the year (softhackles rule!):

The child was happy to see me (actually he was happy I brought his climbing shoes and leftover meatloaf and baked beans). Don’t ask about the sweatshirt; I don’t get the cat thing at all:

Scott

Scott,

What a beautiful stream of water!!! From what few pictures you posted, I saw so many places that I would drift a fly through and hold my breath! Just beautiful water! Thanks for sharing.

PS - Since we have 2 cats in our home, I liked the sweatshirt too…

As usual, a really fun blend of pixels and commentary. “Launching pad” … for 2012. Way to go.

John

Everything was great, up until that cat shirt…

He only wears it as an excuse for when he spills meatloaf on the shirt.

On a more serious note, that looks like a good area for a VAFI.

Ed

Great pics, thanks for sharing. On a personal note, we’ve got a cat in the house, but I wouldn’t be caught dead in that shirt. Now if it had a dog on it…

… or a creek chub ??

Very nice stream. I was looking for places to drift a team of spiders, so I was pleased to see the softhackles won the day this time! I suspect they would do well in that water quite often.

ScottP, my son lives in VA. too… good looking stream (I might have to try and find that one)… But Scott ---- The shirt? Not so much… I would have cropped that out!

ScottP,

Loved the photos. Brought back some nice memories. Tenth photo down with the fence line through the creek. Couple of years ago caught two on the right side undercut bank drifting black woollybugger under it. Haven’t been there lately but it’s quite a stream and pretty challenging and you did quite well considering the conditions especially the cooler weather. Have a series of photos taken there and they’re among my favorites. I didn’t see any bovines though. Had to wade through and by a herd last time!

I think the udder bunch were dancing upstream somewhere; the water was a bit cloudy. First time I’ve fished there and not touched the 3rd rail in quite a while.

Regards,
Scott
